How to use this calculator

  1. Choose MDCAT, ECAT, NUST or FAST. The weights and test total fill in by themselves, and you can edit them.
  2. Enter your matric and FSc obtained and total marks. If your FSc result is not out, many universities use Part 1 marks; enter those with their total.
  3. Enter your entry test marks, or leave them empty and type a target aggregate to see how many test marks you need.
  4. Press Calculate aggregate to see your total and the breakdown.

How it is calculated

Part % = obtained marks / total marks x 100
Aggregate = (Matric % x Matric weight + FSc % x FSc weight + Test % x Test weight) / 100
MDCAT: 10 / 40 / 50   UET ECAT: 17 / 50 / 33   NUST: 10 / 15 / 75   FAST: 10 / 40 / 50

Worked example

  • MDCAT student: matric 1080 / 1200 = 90%, FSc 1010 / 1200 = 84.17%, MDCAT 150 / 180 = 83.33%.
  • Matric part = 90 x 10% = 9.000. FSc part = 84.17 x 40% = 33.667.
  • MDCAT part = 83.33 x 50% = 41.667.
  • Aggregate = 9.000 + 33.667 + 41.667 = 84.33%.

How admission aggregates work in Pakistan

Most public medical colleges and engineering universities do not admit on FSc marks alone. They combine matric, intermediate and an entry test into one aggregate, then admit students in merit order until seats are full. The last admitted aggregate is called the closing merit.

The weights differ by test. For MBBS and BDS, the entry test (MDCAT) carries the most weight. UET gives FSc half the weight, while NUST gives its own NET test three quarters of the aggregate. Private universities often use their own formula.

Rules change. Admission bodies such as PMDC, UHS, UET, NUST and FAST can change weights, test totals and bonus marks from year to year. The presets here are the commonly published weights; always check the latest prospectus before you apply.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MDCAT aggregate formula?

The common formula is matric 10%, FSc 40% and MDCAT 50%. Check the latest PMDC or university policy for your admission year.

How is UET ECAT aggregate calculated?

UET commonly uses matric 17%, FSc 50% and ECAT 33%. The ECAT total is usually 400 marks.

What is the NUST aggregate formula?

NUST commonly uses NET 75%, FSc 15% and matric 10%.

Can I find the test marks I need?

Yes. Leave the entry test marks empty, enter a target aggregate and press Calculate.

My FSc result is not out. What should I enter?

Many universities use Part 1 marks at the time of applying. Enter Part 1 obtained and total marks.

Is my data saved?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.

About the Aggregate Calculator

Every year lakhs of students in Pakistan apply to medical and engineering universities. Admission is given on merit, and merit is decided by an aggregate that mixes matric marks, FSc or equivalent marks and an entry test such as MDCAT, ECAT, NET or the FAST NU test.

This calculator turns your marks into that aggregate using the published weights of each test, and shows how much each part adds. You can also work backwards: enter a target aggregate and leave the test empty to see the test marks you need.

Weights and totals sometimes change. Every preset can be edited, so if a university updates its formula you can type the new weights and keep using the calculator.

AggregateA single merit score out of 100 made from matric, FSc and test marks.
WeightageThe share of each part in the aggregate, for example 50% for MDCAT.
Closing meritThe aggregate of the last student admitted to a programme.
MDCATMedical and Dental College Admission Test for MBBS and BDS.

Key Terms Explained

Aggregate

A single merit score out of 100 made from matric, FSc and test marks.

Weightage

The share of each part in the aggregate, for example 50% for MDCAT.

Closing merit

The aggregate of the last student admitted to a programme.

MDCAT

Medical and Dental College Admission Test for MBBS and BDS.

ECAT

Engineering College Admission Test taken by UET and other universities.

NET

NUST Entry Test used for NUST engineering, computing and other programmes.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Choose the test

MDCAT, ECAT, NUST NET, FAST, or custom weights.

  2. Enter matric marks

Obtained and total, as on your result card.

  3. Enter FSc marks

Full marks if available, or Part 1 with its total.

  4. Enter test marks or a target

Leave the test empty to find the marks you need.

  5. Check the breakdown

See how much each part adds to your aggregate.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Using old weights

Formulas can change; check the current prospectus.

Wrong totals

Matric and FSc totals differ between boards and years.

Mixing Part 1 and full FSc

Use one set of marks with its matching total.

Ignoring hafiz or other bonus rules

Some universities add marks; add them if they apply to you.

Rounding too early

Small decimals decide merit; keep three or four decimals.

Relying on last year's merit

Closing merits move every year.

Practical Tips

Plan your test score

Use the target option to set a realistic test goal.

Apply to several places

Different formulas favour different strengths.

Practise past papers

The entry test usually carries the biggest weight.

Keep documents ready

Result cards, CNIC or B-form and photos.

Watch official notices

Follow PMDC, UHS, UET, NUST and FAST announcements.

Note deadlines

Admission portals close on fixed dates.

Who Uses the Aggregate Calculator

FSc students

Plan entry test targets before MDCAT, ECAT or NET.

Parents

Understand a child's chances in each university.

Academies

Show students where they stand after mock tests.

Counsellors

Compare options across universities quickly.

More Questions

Does O/A level use the same formula?

O and A level marks are first converted through IBCC equivalence, then the same weights are used.

Are there bonus marks for hafiz-e-Quran?

Some universities have given them in the past. Check the current policy.

Can I use this for private medical colleges?

Yes, if they use the national MDCAT formula; otherwise set custom weights.

What MDCAT total should I use?

Use the total of your year's test. The preset is editable.

How accurate is the result?

It is exact for the weights you enter; the official merit list is final.

Can I calculate for COMSATS or other universities?

Yes. Choose Custom weights and enter their formula.
