How it is calculated
Nisab = 52.5 tola silver or 7.5 tola gold, valued at today's rate
Zakat = 2.5% of zakatable wealth, if wealth is at or above nisab
Worked example
- Cash and bank 800,000, stock 400,000, debts 100,000 gives 1,100,000.
- Gold 5 tola at 350,000 per tola adds 1,750,000. Total wealth = 2,850,000.
- Silver nisab at 5,000 per tola = 52.5 x 5,000 = 262,500, so zakat is due.
- Zakat = 2.5% of 2,850,000 = 71,250. (These rates are only an example.)
About zakat and nisab
Zakat is 2.5% of eligible wealth held for one lunar year, once it reaches the nisab. The nisab is 52.5 tola of silver or 7.5 tola of gold. Many scholars use the silver nisab because it is lower and helps more people in need, but opinions differ, so follow the guidance of your own scholar.
Enter the current gold and silver rate from your local market. We do not show live rates here, because prices change through the day.

About the Zakat Calculator
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam: a yearly payment of 2.5% on wealth that stays above the nisab for a full lunar year. This calculator adds up the common types of zakatable wealth in Pakistan, deducts debts due now and compares the result with the gold or silver nisab.
Most families and business owners find the hardest parts are valuing gold and silver at today's rate and deciding what counts as business stock. Enter values as they are on your zakat date, using current market rates for metals and the sale value of trading stock.
The calculator gives an estimate to help you plan. Questions about specific assets, such as plots, pensions or loans given to others, should be confirmed with a scholar you trust.
